Lola & Lola is Yesenia Puente and Miriam Navarro, and it was created in 2001 after a study abroad trip to Paris, France. We became inspired by the creative atmosphere of the city, and upon our return to Phoenix we started experimenting with our own clothes and thrift store finds to create unique articles of clothing. The majority of our designs are also inspired by our Mexican background such as the Loteria games we played when we were kids, the dichos we grew up hearing from our elders, the detailed bordados that our mothers created and the bright colors and sounds that surrounded us. We consider each item a unique piece of art. Our first big showcase was during the "First Friday Artwalk" in downtown Phoenix in October 2004. We had a great response and knew that we wanted to continue creating unique clothing from then on. In June 2006, we were featured in the Yes Fashion Magazine as "Designers of the Week.” In October 2006, we were invited to be panelists at the 21st National Hispanic Women’s Conference in the Young Entrepreneurs: “Living the Dream” session. In March 2007 we were invited to participate in the Stylos 2007 Awards &Fashion Show which highlighted local latino talent. In the past year we have collaborated with Royal Coffee Bar, Sagasta Salon & Coffee Bar, La Luce/Soul Papaya Jewelry, Becky Ankeny Art, Way Cool Hair Pollution Salon & Boutique, Propaganda Gallery, Mint Vintage, Al Moro Studios, Mexikatek, Hot Mess, and Mundo Rojo Entertainment to plan and participate in fashion shows, markets and exhibits. Recently we were recognized as recipients of the “40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40 Awards” presented by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. lola and lola - lola y lola - lola et lola Lola & Lola
